Personalisation Tips

TIP 1:

There are very few things in life more satisfying than to have a domain name to call your own (xxxxx.com/.net/.org). Some that inspired me are:

divemenuts.com (as opposed to Drive Me Nuts!)
ironstruck.com (struck by the Ironman bug)
ravenrace.com (read Rave and Race)

One fine day, I'll do something with these. If you have a proposal, email me please, ishsal(at)trimates.org

These are in addition to the personal ishsal.com, ishak.com and puterialisa.com.

So, all you triathletes out there with your own blogs, figure out what's you, and check that domain availability on http://who.is , immediately :)

If you're already on Blogger.com, its even easier. Log in, go to this page shown in the screencapture below to check whats available, and buy. (click on the images below to enlarge, please)

TIP 2:

Most blogging platforms allow you to domain map your personal domains to theirs. Example, instead of using trimates.blogspot.com, I prefer to use www.trimates.org as my blog address. Just a tad cooler! You can too.

On Blogger, after you have purchased your domain as above, go to the page below, voila!!!

TIP 3:

If you already own a domain hosted by some ISP/registrar somewhere, the view of your host entries/records should read something like this in order for the www to point to your Blogger site.

ADVANCED TIP :)

Always save the best for last. A domain name is useful for a few things. To have your own website or blog. And that all important cool factor, your personalised email. Yes, you can havewhatevernameyouwant(at)thedomainyouown.com ... and start giving your mates one to call their own too.

Its no longer difficult nor costly to do so today. Buying a domain costs US$10 via Google (powered by eNom and GoDaddy!). Hosting it there with an exact Gmail usability (and storage of 6.9GB!) is .... FREE!!! Plus, Google Apps gives so much more, e.g. calendaring, docs, etc.

There's never been a better time to carve out your digital home on the Net. Go to Google Apps and set yourself up for the ultimate cool factor. Welcome to the 21st Century!

Famous last words, if anyone of you would like anemailofyourown(at)trimates.org, just email your preferred ID to ishsal(at)trimates.org and I'll set it up for your use. Absolutely no cost :)
